The presidential campaign of former President Donald Trump is reveling in a video showing a door-knocker for Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) acting erratically while attempting to win over voters.

In a video obtained by Human Events, a canvasser for DeSantis's presidential campaign, dressed in a DeSantis shirt and holding campaign literature, can be seen and heard in a Charleston Ring doorbell camera video making vulgar comments on a resident's porch.

SOME HOUSE GOP LAWMAKERS PUSH BIDEN IMPEACHMENT, BUT LEADERSHIP IS CAUTIOUS

In the video, the staffer can be heard threatening to tell the homeowner if he is met with hostility. The staffer was speaking on the phone with someone else and doesn't seem to be aware that the homeowner is listening. He then admits to being under the influence of drugs.

The Never Back Down PAC, which the canvasser was working for, later told the Washington Post that he was no longer employed with them.

“After learning of the incident, we investigated and terminated the individual,” Kate Roberts, the national field director of Never Back Down, said in a statement. “Our field program is having thousands and thousands of incredible conversations around the country every day. This individual’s behavior is counter to the standards taught in our training and is not tolerated.”

The video was quickly seized upon by Trump's campaign team, who mocked DeSantis over the incident.

"Never Sack Down," the Trump War Room account posted, in a mocking reference to DeSantis's Super PAC.

"This is what happens when you have to pay random bums to do your door knocking," pro-Trump influencer Johnny Maga tweeted.

"This is team DeSantis, ladies and gentlemen! Disgusting!" another pro-Trump influencer, Alex Breusewitz, tweeted.

Former Virginia Republican congresswoman Barbara Comstock criticized Never Back Down PAC's model of paying canvassers that aren't familiar with an area's politics.

“They’re just hiring people who don’t even support the candidate. They don’t believe in the candidate,” said Comstock in a statement to the Washington Post. “Particularly when you’re in a competitive primary, you want someone who is local and knows the state and knows the politics of the state, knows the people, knows who is who. You want people who can speak credibly about a candidate.”

The Washington Examiner has reached out to DeSantis's campaign for comment.
