In an interview with Sean Hannity, former President Donald Trump dismissed the various legal challenges he is facing as “election interference.”

Trump appeared on Fox News’s Hannity on Monday night. He touched on the various legal challenges he is facing, expressed his opinions on how voting should be conducted, and discussed Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL).

“It’s a new way of cheating on elections,” Trump said. “It’s called election interference.”

Trump said if Democrats can’t win at the ballot box, they turn to things like legal challenges in an attempt to tip the scales.

“I did nothing wrong,” Trump said, dismissing the various lawsuits against him as baseless.

The conversation then turned to the topic of voting. Trump expressed his views on how voting should be conducted. He championed paper ballots and same-day voting.

“Mail-in ballots are automatically corrupt. If you have mail-in ballots, you’re gonna have very dishonest elections,” Trump said.

The conversation also touched on the FBI raid of Mar-a-Lago.

“The raid is terrible, and the way they treated people is terrible,” Trump said. He said there was no need for the raid and that if the FBI had made an effort to communicate effectively, the whole thing could have been avoided.

When the interview turned to DeSantis, Trump unleashed a harsh assessment of the governor. He implied that he was disloyal and said DeSantis would have never been elected governor if it weren’t for his endorsement.

Trump clarified as soon as DeSantis was mentioned that the two were not friends. He then told the story of how, according to the former president, he got DeSantis elected.

“He was being crushed,” Trump said of DeSantis in the Florida primary.

“Ron came to see me, tears in his eyes — he said, ‘I need you to do me a big favor … would you endorse me?’”

“I said, 'Ron, you’re so far behind I can’t imagine that if you got George Washington’s endorsement combined with the great Abraham Lincoln — if you had their endorsements, I don’t think you could win, Ron,’” Trump added.

Trump eventually agreed to endorse DeSantis, and he said he told DeSantis to write the announcement.

“He wrote it out. I thought it was terrible. I changed it, made it great,” Trump said. “I gave him a great endorsement.”

Trump said his endorsement completely turned the primary around. He also said it helped DeSantis beat “crackhead” Andrew Gillum in the race for the governorship.

Trump said he was shocked when DeSantis wouldn’t comment on whether he would run against Trump for the presidency in 2024.

“That’s not supposed to happen. Here I got him the nomination,” Trump said.

The interview comes as Trump swims in a pool of controversy. Aside from his typical polarizing nature, the former president is dealing with four lawsuits:

Fox News has also been handling its own controversy: a defamation lawsuit brought by Dominion Voting Systems. The suit alleges that the network knowingly promoted false narratives championed by Trump.
