President Donald Trump blasted NBC on social media after hearing rumors that the company extended late-night host Seth Meyers‘s contract.
“There is a sick rumor going around that Fake News NBC extended the contract of one of the least talented Late Night television hosts out there,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

NBC last renewed Meyers’s contract in 2024 to continue hosting Late Night with Seth Meyers through 2028, after his 10th anniversary hosting the show.
Trump said he will “definitely be finding out” the reason behind the Meyers’s rumored contract extension.
“He has no Ratings, Talent, or Intelligence, and the Personality of an insecure child,” Trump wrote. “So, why would Fake News NBC extend this dope’s contract.”
The rumor of Meyers’s contract extension comes after the future of late-night television is called into question. Viewership is plummeting, and networks are canceling shows, including The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS.
CBS canceled Colbert’s show in July, citing financial reasons.
“This is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night,” a network spokesperson said in a statement in July. “It is not related in any way to the show’s performance, content, or other matters happening at Paramount.”
Second-quarter ratings showed late-night programs were down 9% among total viewers year-over-year, except Fox News’ Gutfeld!, which averaged 3 million viewers.
Trump distanced himself from Colbert’s firing in July and predicted that other late-night hosts, including Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel, are next.
Fallon hosts NBC’s other late-night program, The Tonight Show. Similar to Meyers, the network also renewed Fallon’s contract in 2024 through 2028. There has been no news about another extension for Fallon yet.

“Next up will be an even less talented Jimmy Kimmel, and then, a weak and very insecure Jimmy Fallon,” Trump wrote on Truth Social at the time. “The only real question is, who will go first? Show Biz and Television is a very simple business. If you get Ratings, you can say or do anything. If you don’t, you always become a victim. Colbert became a victim to himself, the other two will follow.”
The Washington Examiner has contacted NBC for comment.
