Former President Donald Trump emphasized the need for consumer choice, saying voters want to have a "choice for buying cars and washing machines."
Trump's comments come as the Biden administration has pushed to transition to electric vehicles and tighten some regulations of household appliances. The former president pledged in July to reverse some of the electric vehicle policies set by President Joe Biden should he retake the White House in 2024.

"You'll be able to buy an electric car, but you're going to be able to buy every form of car that's made," he said in a preview clip of a new interview with Fox Business host Larry Kudlow airing at 4 p.m. Eastern time on Thursday.
"You've got to have choice, like in school, we want school choice. We want choice for buying cars and washing machines and all of this stuff," he told Kudlow. "I mean, the dishwashers, they were telling me you have to run it five times because it hasn't got enough water. So what they do, on on on, they end up using more water."
The Biden administration proposed new washing machine efficiency standards earlier this year, which sought to reduce emissions from household appliances and refrigerators.
"The whole thing is crazy," Trump said, adding that consumer choice is common sense.

"We have a lot of common sense. And the problem is that they don't have common sense. They don't know what they're doing. And they're destroying our country," Trump added. "We'll turn it around fast."
Trump leads the Republican primary field by double digits, according to Morning Consult. More than half of likely GOP primary voters, 57%, said they would vote for him. His closest rival, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), has 16%.
