Less than a month into his second term, President Donald Trump‘s aggressive foreign policy has shown that America is back, and this time, we aren’t putting up with any nonsense.

From threatening Central and South American countries with economically crippling tariffs should they not accept the repatriation of their citizens illegally in the United States to threatening Mexico and Canada if those nations do not work to stem the flow of illegal aliens and fentanyl into our country, the Trump administration is showing it will not be deterred from punishing those who hurt America.

Take the experience of Vice President JD Vance on a visit to Germany. He chastised European leaders attending the Munich Security Conference for canceling elections due to alleged disinformation, for banning conservative political parties, and for censoring free speech. Vance’s aggressive speech set off alarm bells across the globe. Germany’s defense minister, Boris Pistorius, rejected Vance’s characterization of European policies, stating, “If I understand him correctly, he is comparing conditions in parts of Europe with those in authoritarian regions … that is not acceptable.”

The media came to Europe’s defense, saying free speech gave rise to Adolf Hitler and the Nazi reign of terror, with a CBS anchor telling Secretary of State Marco Rubio that “free speech was weaponized to conduct genocide.”

However, Vance wasn’t alone in his tough message to our European allies. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth told NATO defense ministers that the U.S. would concentrate on “empowering Europe to own responsibility for its own security.” He further went on to urge members to exceed the 2%-of-GDP target for defense spending set by the alliance — which most fail to meet — and to aim instead for 5%.

European countries were so concerned about America’s new, aggressive foreign policy that a number of leaders met in Paris for emergency talks about how to deal with it. It is little surprise that they do not know how to respond to a bold American foreign policy, given the milquetoast policies of former President Joe Biden.

The terrorist organization Hamas has similarly felt Trump’s wrath. Trump warned that “all hell is going to break out” unless Hamas maintained its commitment to releasing hostages under a ceasefire agreement. Trump’s warning followed the group’s announcement it would delay its next hostage release. The result of the president’s strict words: the hostages, including an American, were released.

Even American athletes are getting into the act and defending their nation in a way not seen since perhaps the 1980 Winter Olympics. On Saturday, hockey fans in Montreal, Canada, booed the U.S. national anthem before a game between the U.S. and Canada as part of the National Hockey League’s Four Nations Face-Off. The result was three fights in the first nine seconds of the game, as American players aggressively went after their Canadian rivals, eventually defeating the Canadians on their home ice 3-1. Unfortunately, Canada ended up defeating the U.S. in the final!

However, to all those in politics, business, or even sports questioning the resolve and reemergence of the U.S., the lesson is clear: Trump, more than ever, means business.
