Former President Donald Trump said abortion rights activists became radicals after the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
Trump took credit for the Supreme Court’s June 2022 decision to overturn Roe and celebrated how it has changed the dynamics of the abortion policy debate during a town hall in Iowa on Thursday on Fox News's Hannity.

"I also made them the radicals," he said. "They are able and willing to kill babies in the ninth month. ... That’s radical."
"Pro-life isn’t radical. What’s radical is killing a baby in the seventh month, eighth month, ninth month, or even after the baby’s born," Trump said.
It's unclear what exactly Trump was referring to when talking about killing babies after they are born. His comments about killing babies are also, on their face, scientifically inaccurate. Unborn children are called fetuses after the embryo stage and before birth, according to Medline Plus.
Trump made sure to mention the importance of exemptions from bans in the interest of political viability.
"I got rid of Roe v. Wade," Trump said, claiming he had put the anti-abortion movement in a strong position.
"You know, I happen to be of the Ronald Reagan school in terms of exemptions where you have the life of the mother, rape, and incest," Trump said.
Trump also responded to critics who claim they have done more on abortion than him.
"Only stupid people would say that because everyone said there was no way that Roe v. Wade was going to disappear," he added.
The Supreme Court overturned Roe with the ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization in June 2022, returning jurisdiction over abortion laws to the states. Three of the six Supreme Court justices in the majority opinion were appointed by Trump.

Trump has consistently led the GOP field in the polls, with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in a close second behind him. Other candidates, including Nikki Haley, Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), and Vivek Ramaswamy, among others, are far behind the two Florida men.
The town hall is Trump's second of the 2024 primary election season. He participated in a town hall on CNN last month.
