Former President Donald Trump acknowledged an overseas endorsement in his favor as he continues his 2024 presidential bid.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban appeared on Tucker Carlson's show on X, formerly known as Twitter, earlier this week to offer his endorsement. During the interview, Orban suggested that reelecting Trump would be “the only way out” of the war between Russia and Ukraine.

“Call back Trump," Orban said. "Trump is the man who can save the Western world.”

Trump would go on to share a graphic of Orban along with his quote on his own social media platform Truth Social late Friday. By Saturday, he returned the favor and offered an endorsement of his own for Orban.

"Viktor Orban is a great leader and man," Trump wrote. "The wonderful people of Hungary are lucky to have him!"

Carlson interviewed the prime minister on Aug. 21 on the opulent terrace of Orban’s office overlooking Budapest. It was his second sit-down in two years with the right-wing leader. The last interview between the two happened while Carlson was still working for Fox News. Immediately following the interview, Carlson would go on to interview Trump and air an episode at the same time that his former employer was hosting the first Republican primary debate.

Orban has been in office since 2010. He has been vocal about his stances on American politics, most recently addressing the Dallas crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference in August of last year.

During Orban's visit, Trump invited him to his Bedminster, New Jersey, resort privately ahead of the conference.
