Former President Donald Trump defended his Access Hollywood comments and adamantly denied knowing E. Jean Carroll in his CNN town hall Wednesday.

“What’s happening is they are doing this for election interference,” Trump said of the trial’s verdict. “This woman, I don’t know her, I never met her, I have no idea who she is.”

JURY ORDERS TRUMP TO PAY $5 MILLION IN DAMAGES TO CARROLL FOR BATTERY AND DEFAMATION

The former president was found liable for sexual abuse and defamation in the case brought by Caroll, a former Elle magazine writer who accused Trump of raping her in the 1990s.

However, he said he does not think the outcome of the Carroll case will affect his chances with women voters.

“This is a fake story, a made-up story,” Trump said, adding that it “wouldn’t have made a difference” if he had appeared at the trial to testify.

When asked whether he stands by the comments in the tape, Trump said he was referring to “people that are powerful,” not just himself.

“I said, ‘If you’re famous and rich,’ and whatever I said,” Trump said. “But I said, 'If you’re a star, you are —' and I said, ‘Women let you.’ I didn’t say, 'You grab.'”

Jurors determined that while there was not a preponderance of evidence to prove that Trump raped Carroll, there was enough evidence to prove he sexually abused her and defamed her when she stepped forward with her claims.

Trump was ordered to pay $5 million to Carroll. That sum includes $2 million for sexual abuse, $1.7 million for reputation repair damages, and $1 million for malice and injury related to defamation.
