A rally for former President Donald Trump is making room for more attendees after seating for the event initially sold out.
The event, which will be held at the Monument in Rapid City, South Dakota, had its original 6,000 seats sold out in less than a week. On Monday, the state's Republican Party announced an additional 900 seats would be made available for those who missed out.

“Our Monumental Leaders rally will be a record shattering event for the SDGOP, and we are proud to host President Donald J. Trump," state party Chairman John Wiik said. “As the front runner in the Republican Presidential Primary, President Trump will be joining us in South Dakota with Governor Kristi Noem. We are overwhelmed by the excitement.”
The rally is scheduled to be held on Sept. 8, and these new tickets will be available for purchase to people who are on a waitlist starting Tuesday at 10 a.m. MDT. After that, the general public will be able to purchase the tickets starting Thursday at 10 a.m. MDT.
Demand for the rally comes after Trump raked in more than $7 million in initial marketing of his mug shot. Trump also remains far ahead in the Republican primary for the 2024 presidential election. The former president is seeking to win the nomination against other Republican candidates in the primary, including Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

The former president experienced a slight decrease in his support in the wake of the party's first presidential debate for the 2024 season, though Trump still sits far ahead at 50%. DeSantis, considered to be Trump's biggest competitor in the primary, still trails with 12% support, according to a poll.
Trump is facing multiple indictments ahead of the next presidential election, with his latest one being over his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia. Trump, along with his 18 co-defendants in this indictment, will be arraigned on Sept. 6, two days before the South Dakota rally.
