Former President Donald Trump is planning to bring out the fireworks for an entire year if elected, promising a celebration of the United States's 250th birthday like no other.

Trump said the U.S. will be celebrating the nation's milestone birthday in 2026, and as such, the country should be preparing for a "most spectacular birthday party." The former president then listed several steps he plans to take to prepare for the milestone, according to a video he posted to his Rumble account.

"On day one, I will convene a White House task force called 'Salute to America 250,'" Trump said. "It will be responsible for coordinating with state and local governments to ensure not just one day of celebration, but an entire year of festivities across the nation, starting on Memorial Day 2025 and continuing through July 4, 2026."

Trump also said he would work with all 50 governors in the U.S. to create the "Great American State Fair," which will feature pavilions from all 50 states. Trump expressed hope that Iowa will open the "legendary" Iowa State Fair Grounds.

Other festivities Trump promised to include in this celebration include sporting contests for high school athletes, which Trump referred to as "patriot games," and an executive order to construct the National Garden of American Heroes, which would create 100 statues honoring the "greatest Americans of all time." Trump closed out his video by announcing he would ask the nation's religious communities to pray for the country, noting that since the U.S.'s inception, the country has been sustained and straightened by prayer.

"America's tourist industry should get ready because we're gonna have a lot of people coming," Trump said. "It will be a record year."

Trump's promise for a massive celebration comes after Congress already established the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission in 2016. The commission is working with public and private entities across the nation in preparation for the U.S.'s 250th anniversary.

Trump was the first Republican candidate to announce his run in the 2024 election. Other Republicans in the primary race include Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC).
