President Donald Trump is supportive of designating antifa a domestic terrorist organization as he and his aides consider how to respond to an increase in political violence, a concern pushed into the spotlight after last week’s assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

“It’s something I would do, yeah,” Trump told reporters on Monday at the White House in response to a question. “Also, I’ve been speaking to the attorney general about bringing RICO against some of the people … that have been putting up millions and millions of dollars for agitation.”

Trump previously supported designating antifa a domestic terrorist organization during his first administration amid protests in reaction to the death of George Floyd.

Trump himself was charged under Georgia’s state Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act over allegations he tried to overturn Georgia’s election results in 2020.

During an informal press conference with reporters in the Oval Office on Monday, Trump indicated he would likely speak at Kirk’s funeral next Sunday at Phoenix’s 63,000-person State Farm Stadium in Arizona.

Of the Kirk’s alleged killer, Trump said Tyler Robinson appeared to have been “radicalized on the internet,” before repeating that that was merely his opinion.

Denying Israel‘s claim that they advised the president of their strike last week against Qatar, Trump also previewed a call with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday regarding TikTok, though he did not confirm whether China would retain a stake in the social media platform, and “more importantly, a big deal.”

“It’s important, and it can maybe even bring us closer to China,” he said of the prospect of a trade deal.

Trump made the comments after signing a presidential proclamation forming a task force to counter crime in Memphis at the request of Gov. Bill Lee (R-TN), the first Republican governor to do so.

“We think Chicago is going to be next, and we’ll get to St. Louis also, and New Orleans we want to get to too,” he said.
