MILWAUKEE — The 2024 Republican National Convention has officially nominated former President Donald Trump to be the party’s standard-bearer again this election cycle.
Delegates crowded into the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to show their support for Trump as President Joe Biden’s Republican opponent.
The vote was organized so that delegates from Trump’s home state of Florida was the group of people who helped him reach the threshold number of 1,215.
“It’s surreal because I’m not a political person per se, but I felt compelled to be involved after Jan. 6,” Illinois delegate Laurie Schaefer told the Washington Examiner on the convention floor. “I’m a precinct committeeman and I ended up being a Trump delegate, and after what he went through the other night, he is a rock star. I’m excited. I’m hopeful. I’m filled with anticipation for everyone to thrive. And that’s what I’m looking forward to.”
