Attorneys for former President Donald Trump said Thursday they will renew a motion for a mistrial in his New York hush money trial after the second round of testimony from porn star Stormy Daniels.
Trump lawyer Todd Blanche told Judge Juan Merchan before the lunch break that they want to raise three issues regarding recent testimony, including a new motion for a mistrial after Daniels’s testimony, a request to block former Playboy model Karen McDougal from testifying, and an additional request involving the former president’s gag order.
Merchan previously denied the defense’s request for a mistrial on Tuesday after Blanche said the porn actress’s first round of testimony was prejudicial to Trump. The judge declined the initial request, saying that Trump’s attorneys could have raised more objections to block Daniels’s salacious descriptions of an alleged sexual encounter with Trump in 2006, which the former president denies ever happened.
“I agree that it would have been better if some of these things had been left unsaid,” Merchan said at the time.
Earlier on Thursday, Trump announced he would continue to fight his gag order on multiple fronts, including a new motion to challenge the constitutionality of the order itself.

Trump is also appealing Merchan’s contempt of court orders that fined Trump a total of $10,000 for 10 separate gag order violations, as the judge has warned additional violations may result in jail time.
Testimony in the hush money trial resumed Thursday afternoon with cross-examination of Trump Organization junior bookkeeper Rebecca Manochio.
