Trump National Golf Club blamed a recent poor health grade for its Bedminster, New Jersey, location on political motivations from the inspector.

A three-hour visit from a health inspector found a litany of health and safety violations at the golf club, resulting in a score of 33 out of 100 — one of the lowest in the county. The club, one of President Donald Trump’s favorite spots since before his first administration, voiced outrage at the grading, insisting it was political in nature.

“This is clearly nothing more than a politically motivated attack,” the club’s general manager, David Schutzenhofer, said in a statement obtained by the New York Times.

“Never before have we witnessed such visceral hostility from the Health Department,” he continued. “We operate one of the most immaculate golf facilities in the country, and we take immense pride in our standards of cleanliness, safety, and hospitality.”

Among the complaints documented was a lack of soap at some sinks, raw food stored near other food, expired milk, a lack of proper food and ingredient labeling, and sliced lime, lemon, and oranges left at room temperature on the bar counter.

The inspector documented 18 violations in total, nine of which were critical and “may result in an unacceptable health risk.”

The club was given a “conditionally satisfactory” C grade and must display a placard with the grade at a visible location.
