Politicians and reporters blasted President Joe Biden's absence at the coronation of King Charles III.
While Biden did not attend, first lady Jill Biden and their granddaughter Finnegan attended the coronation instead. The last time the U.K. had a coronation it was on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II, and then-President Harry S. Truman did not attend. Some still disagreed with Biden not attending the ceremony, which is the first in 70 years.

"Joe Biden should have been at the Coronation of King Charles III. Is that really so much to ask?" former President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social Saturday. "The people of the U.K. are greatly insulted. No wonder we are losing support all over the World."
Trump previously went on the record to share his disapproval of Biden for not attending the coronation of King Charles III in an interview with Nigel Farage of GB News Wednesday. Ex-aide to former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher Nile Gardiner shared a link to the interview Saturday.
"This is correct. Joe Biden's deliberate absence from the Coronation is hugely disrespectful and insulting towards the British people," Gardiner tweeted. "Joe Biden Coronation absence 'disrespectful.'"

"There’s been a lot of condemnation in the U.K. of Biden’s decision not to attend," Sean Hannity tweeted Saturday, along with a link to an article on the subject. "I would say he’s becoming a very unpopular president in the eyes of the British public. I think this is just the latest snub of America’s closest friend and ally."

"Joe Biden embarrassed us on the world stage again for refusing to go to King Charle's Coronation because he is too old to make the trip," reporter Stefanie Daubert tweeted. "Other world leaders were there, but Joe cant miss his daily ice cream and nappy time."

"I hope the British understand that Biden is the first president since the advent of modern flight to have the opportunity to attend a coronation and choose to sleep in Delaware instead," editor Tom Pappert wrote.

Finnegan Biden, 23, was the first lady's plus one in Westminster Abbey instead. The Biden's second-oldest granddaughter wore a yellow Markarian dress complete with a cape while Jill Biden wore a blue top and skirt by Ralph Lauren, in apparent solidarity with Ukraine.
