Democrats have been in free fall both in terms of their often-fragile mental health and according to all available polling data since President Joe Biden gave the worst debate performance in the history of Western civilization last month. The dementia-ridden 81-year-old is behind in every swing state, and he appears to be on track to be the first Democrat to lose the national popular vote in two decades.
Making things worse for the worst political party in the nation, the man whom the party shoved down the throats of its own primary voters and the general population while the press dutifully ran cover is now refusing to leave.
Why would Biden leave? A tyrant’s goal is to die in office, and the president’s record of increasing the state’s power over people’s lives at every turn throughout his five-decade career in elected office would certainly solidify his status as an aspiring tyrant. Furthermore, the president’s wife, son, and brothers would have to find gainful employment if they lost their golden goose in the White House, an effort that no member of the Biden clan has shown any interest in pursuing.
As elected Democrats and corporate journalists are slowly coming to the realization that President Jill Biden’s husband isn’t going anywhere, they are predictably pivoting back to the old playbook: Orange Man Bad (but really bad, this time!)
The Left’s superpower is the ability to use the press to keep all focus on Republicans while the crimes and abuses of Democrats fly under the radar. It worked in 2020, but even blue-pilled, corporate media-consuming voters could no longer ignore Biden’s mental condition when forced to confront the facts during the first presidential debate. Democrats are hoping that by tying former President Donald Trump to the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, they can gin up enough Trump derangement to drag their mentally unfit candidate across the finish line.
The problem for Democrats is that the dog just won’t hunt. Trump denounced Project 2025, a document he had no part in writing.
The former president has also moved dramatically toward the center in the last year. Trump angered conservatives by repeatedly throwing the pro-life movement under the bus and saying he would not sign a national abortion ban. Trump has always maintained that he would never touch entitlements — a position that will prove catastrophic when the entitlement programs start becoming insolvent in the next decade.
Trump’s tax cuts, despite claims to the contrary by the Left, benefited the middle class more than the rich; he has not committed to cutting off funding to Ukraine; and he is a lot closer to Democrats on many social issues than his supporters would like to admit.

The Supreme Court, led by Trump’s three appointments, overturned the Chevron U.S.A., Inc. v. Natural Resources Defense Council, Inc. doctrine, stripping power from the administrative state, while Biden’s regulatory power grab attempts to do the opposite. Even rhetorically, while Trump still uses fiery language at times, it pales in comparison to Biden giving a Mussolini-esque speech in front of a blood-red background, flanked by armed Marines, as he all-but declared that half of the country’s citizens are enemies of the state.
Despite breathless attempts by journalists to convince voters of the contrary, Trump, for better or worse, is the centrist in this race. Fearmongering made more sense politically in 2016 when he was an outsider, but efforts to paint him as a wild-eyed radical will fall on deaf ears considering the man governed like a blue-dog Democrat during his first term in office. Democrats should ask themselves what they are truly afraid of: Trump or the consequences of their own decisions?
