NextImg:Trump holds significant lead over Biden in new poll - Washington Examiner

A new poll shows former President Donald Trump with a significant lead over President Joe Biden ahead of their likely November matchup.

In the CNN survey that considers only the two candidates, Trump is polling at 49%, while Biden is trailing at 43%. When including independent candidates such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Jill Stein, and Cornel West, Trump’s lead jumps: 42% for Trump, 33% for Biden, 16% for Kennedy, 4% for West, and 3% for Stein.

Those polled also have a much more favorable view of Trump’s presidency than they do Biden’s, according to the poll, which was conducted April 18-23. Fifty-five percent of those polled called Trump’s presidency a “success,” while only 39% of those polled called Biden’s presidency thus far a success.

In a January 2021 poll taken just before the end of Trump’s presidency, 55% of those polled at the time called Trump’s presidency a failure.

Republicans are more unified in their positive feeling toward Trump’s presidency than Democrats are of Biden’s. Ninety-two percent of Republicans polled called Trump’s time in office a success, compared to the 73% of Democrats who said Biden’s has been a success so far. Fourteen percent said they consider both presidencies failures and 8% see both presidencies as successes.

People’s overall views of both Biden and Trump are mostly negative; 58% of voters have an unfavorable view of Biden and 55% have an unfavorable view of Trump.

Many remain adamant about who they would not vote for; 52% say there’s “no chance” they would support Biden, while 47% say there is “no chance” they would support Trump on Election Day

There also seems to be a misunderstanding on both sides of the aisle about the other party. Sixty-six percent of people who do not support Biden say they don’t understand why anyone would support him, and 63% of those not supporting Trump say they do not understand why people would support him.
