The Washington Examiner’s Byron York predicted that former President Donald Trump‘s supporters will only become “more intense” as a result of the Republican presidential candidate being found guilty in his hush money trial Thursday.

York appeared on Special Report with Brett Baier on Thursday, hours after a jury found Trump guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. York responded to Trump’s immediate reaction outside the courthouse, where the president assured that he will be “OK.”

“He is talking to his supporters right there, and at his rallies, sometimes he will say, ‘You know, they are not coming after me, they are coming after you. I’m just in the way,'” York said. So, covering the primaries and the caucuses this year, Republicans are pretty much unanimous in the belief that Trump has been unfairly pursued here, that he was a victim of politicized prosecution.”

TRUMP GUILTY IN MANHATTAN HUSH MONEY CASE

York pointed out that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is an elected Democratic attorney who hired a former staffer of President Joe Biden to help in the case. Even Judge Juan Merchan is a previous donor to the Biden campaign.

“So, the Trump supporters have a point when they talk about the political aspects of this case,” York went on. “So I don’t think it’s going to change any of their support — maybe make it more intense.”

Trump is campaigning against Biden for the office. While he is facing another 54 charges from prosecutors across the nation, this will be the only criminal trial that issues a verdict before the Nov. 5 election.
