President Donald Trump has given former New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R-NH) his blessing should he decide to run for Senate next year.
Sununu, who served four two-year terms in the Concord governor’s mansion, was one of the most recognizable critics of Trump within the Republican Party. He endorsed U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley in the 2024 presidential primary and predicted in February 2024 that former Vice President Kamala Harris would be the nation’s next president if Trump became the nominee. He has since stated that Trump’s “positivity” and energy won voters over and has also contended that there is still room within the Republican Party to criticize the president.

However, the two seemed to have repaired their relationship in recent months.
While the former governor has yet to announce a run for the seat currently held by Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Sununu has stated he would likely get Trump’s support if he chose to run, which Trump said on Sunday is “true.”

“He’s been very nice to me over the last year or so, but no, I hope he runs. I think he’ll win that seat,” Trump told reporters.
"Chris Sununu is saying he'll win open Senate seat in New Hampshire, he has no doubt you'll support him if he runs. Is that true?"
