Former President Donald Trump raged against the New York jury's verdict in E. Jean Carroll's defamation case, calling the order for him to pay Carroll $5 million a "disgrace."
The jury unanimously found after three hours of deliberation that Trump was liable for sexual assault and defamation, but there was not enough evidence to affirm that Trump raped Carroll in the mid-1990s at a Bergdorf Goodman department store.
JURY ORDERS TRUMP TO PAY $5M IN DAMAGES TO CARROLL FOR BATTERY AND DEFAMATION
"I have absolutely no idea who this woman is. This verdict is a disgrace — a continuation of the greatest witch hunt of all time," Trump said in a Truth Social post on Tuesday.
Trump is now ordered to pay $5 million to Carroll, including $2 million for sexual abuse, $1.7 million for reputation repair damages, and $1 million for malice and injury related to defamation.
The former president's campaign sent a statement to PBS News condemning the verdict.
"The Democratic Party’s never-ending witch-hunt of President Trump hit a new low today," the campaign said. "In jurisdictions wholly controlled by the Democratic Party our nation’s justice system is now compromised by extremist left-wing politics."

Carroll's attorneys presented several pieces of evidence throughout the two-week trial, such as the former president's past derogatory comments toward women and other women's testimony regarding his alleged sexual misconduct toward them.
Defense attorneys for Trump sought to discredit Carroll's claims and called her story an "unbelievable work of fiction," twisted by people's feelings of "hate" toward the former president.
