NextImg:Trump calls indictment 'bulls***' during New Hampshire campaign rally

Former President Donald Trump referred to his latest federal grand jury indictment over his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election as "bulls***" during a campaign rally in Windham, New Hampshire, on Tuesday.

"How can my corrupt political opponent, crooked Joe Biden, put me on trial during an election campaign that I'm winning by a lot?" he asked. "But forcing me nevertheless to spend time and money away from the campaign trail in order to fight bogus, made-up accusations and charges, that's what they're doing. I'm sorry, I won't be able to go to Iowa today. I won't be able to go to New Hampshire today because I'm sitting in a courtroom on bulls*** because his attorney general charged me with something. Terrible."

The elated crowd erupted in chants of "Bulls***!" repeatedly after Trump spoke. "Thank you very much," Trump said.

Trump was indicted for a third time last week, this time by a federal grand jury concerning his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Special counsel Jack Smith charged Trump with four federal counts, which the former president pleaded not guilty to when he was arraigned in federal court.

The former president claimed he was beating Biden in polls "by a lot" and that his chief rival, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), was losing to Biden.

"But these incredible numbers are the primary reason that crooked Joe Biden has weaponized law enforcement," Trump said. "He's done something that nobody thought, they talked about it but nobody ever did it, never to this extent, and ordered his top political opponent, me, arrested ... right in the middle of a presidential election that Biden is losing badly."

Trump claimed his poll numbers are rising despite his three indictments and a possible fourth indictment that could come from a Georgia investigation over Trump's alleged actions to overturn the 2020 results. "Every time you get indicted I like to check the polls because one more indictment, then I think this election is over," he said. "The latest Morning Consult poll has us far ahead. We're at 59% and the others are at, like, 12. One is at 12. I think that's DeSanctimonious. But he's rapidly being caught by [Vivek] Ramaswamy, who's good."

The latest Morning Consult poll has Trump at 59%, but DeSantis actually has 16% support among GOP voters, while every other candidate is in the single digits. In addition to calling DeSantis derogatory names, Trump also referred to him as a "son of a b****" while speaking about the aftermath of endorsing him in his successful 2018 gubernatorial campaign.

"These maniacs are screaming, would you run against the president? Would you run? Will you run? And he goes, 'I have no comment,'" Trump recounted. "To me, that means he's running. So I said, that son of a b**** is running. Can you believe it? I just got him elected. So that's why I've been particularly hard at him."

Trump said the DeSantis campaign is "crashing" and speculated that he should have waited until later to run for president. "You know what he did wrong? He ran," Trump said. "What he did wrong is he should have waited till '28."

The former president reiterated his unfounded belief that the 2020 election was "rigged" and "stolen," a fact that is referenced in his 45-page indictment released last week.

Trump also said he would not be "silenced" even though District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan said she would hold a hearing over a protective order on what Trump can share publicly about the case. "They want to take away my freedom because I will never let them take away your freedom. That's what's happening," said Trump. "They want to silence me because I will never let them silence you. And in the end, they're not after me. They're after you."

Trump remained defiant during his New Hampshire speech. "All I can say is the never-ending witch hunt continues and we have exposed so much, nobody's ever thought I have exposed so much," the former president said. "It's been incredible, but do not fear, we will win bigger and better than ever before."
