An attorney for former President Donald Trump reportedly warned him last year that "it's going to be a crime" if he didn't comply with a subpoena in the classified documents case.
ABC News reported that Jennifer Little, one of Trump's attorneys, told special counsel Jack Smith that she "very clearly" warned the former president that failing to turn in all classified documents at Mar-a-Lago after a Justice Department subpoena would be a crime. The outlet reported she said Trump "absolutely" understood her. She reportedly detailed to Trump that the Justice Department subpoena was different from the request he received from the National Archives months before.

The indictment against Trump claims that he failed to comply with the subpoena fully and attempted to obstruct the Justice Department investigation.
Trump and his co-defendants have all pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Little was first hired by Trump in March 2021 to help with the Fulton County, Georgia, case but went on to assist him with other legal matters as well.
The Washington Examiner reached out to Little's law firm. Smith's office refused to comment on the situation.
