Former President Donald Trump slammed Democratic “persecutors” in a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, comparing the prosecutors to Massachusetts attorney Rachael Rollins, who resigned after allegedly leaking sensitive information earlier this month.

Rollins allegedly leaked sensitive information from the Justice Department to a reporter in an attempt to influence a local election for a friend, according to two federal reports released on May 17. Rollins also allegedly lied to investigators and attended a fundraiser with first lady Jill Biden.

BIDEN IS LOSING THE GLOBAL SEMICONDUCTOR RACE

“Massachusetts’ top federal prosecutor leaked sensitive information from the Justice Department in an effort to help a friend win an election, and hurt the opponent. The prosecutor just resigned. Big ramifications,” Trump posted.

“But wait, all of the Democrat 'Persecutors' that are trying to Interfere with the 2024 Presidential Election are leaking constantly, and illegally, about me. Will they be resigning, and will there be an investigation into their leaking? There should be!” he added.

A report from the inspector general’s office said Rollins lied during an interview about the information she gave to the journalist. The other report, from the Office of Special Counsel, accused Rollins of violating the Hatch Act when she leaked the information during a political campaign and attended the fundraiser with Biden.

The report claimed that Rollins's alleged violations were “among the most egregious transgressions of the Act that OSC has ever investigated."

Rollins's attorney, Michael Bromwich, said his client could litigate the accusations but decided to step down so the office could focus on other cases.

“Though Ms. Rollins could have raised many facts and arguments in connection with these issues, she had no interest in litigating them any further,” Bromwich told CNN. “She believed the better course was to step down and end the matter before it overwhelmed her office and DOJ.”

Rollins became Massachusetts's top attorney in January 2022 after serving as district attorney for Boston and the surrounding areas. She and her team oversaw the investigation into Jack Teixeira, the Massachusetts Air National Guardsman accused of leaking classified Pentagon documents over Discord.
