NextImg:Trump and Musk have tapped into US anger at government waste - Washington Examiner

If there is one phrase that the public has in reaction to President Donald Trump’s war on waste, it would be that “it’s about time.”

Promised since the Reagan years, little wasteful spending has ever been rooted out and eliminated, and people are plain mad about it.

The latest Rasmussen Reports survey shared with Secrets today found that a sky high 70% are angry about federal spending waste, fraud and abuse.

And the anger is universal, with Republicans at 81%, Democrats at 60%, and independents at 70%.

So when Trump asked his Cabinet today if anyone had a problem with waste-killing czar Elon Musk, it wasn’t a surprise that nobody spoke up.

In fact, voter anger goes deeper than just seeing their tax dollars blown on aid to terrorists and American enemies like that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) blew the whistle on today in her second DOGE hearing.

Rasmussen found that a majority also believe that “some employees of the federal government have engaged in fraud to enrich themselves with taxpayer money.”

That is a rare condemnation of the bureaucracy and one that will boost support outside the Beltway for Trump to drain the swamp of federal workers.

Just consider: 70% of voters believe federal workers are guilty of fraud, and Democrats, Republicans, and independents are in agreement.

“There is nearly no ‘gender gap’ on these questions, with just slightly more men (71%) than women voters (68%) saying they’re angry about the amount of waste, fraud and abuse in federal spending,” said the pollster, adding, “Majorities of every racial category – 68% of whites, 59% of black voters, and 73% of Hispanics and other minoirities – consider it likely that some employees of the federal government have engaged in fraud to enrich themselves with taxpayer money.”
