A conservative government oversight organization sent a memo to hundreds of Congress members urging them to blacklist lobbying firms that have hired former members of the Jan. 6 committee.

The American Accountability Foundation, a government opposition research organization allied with former President Donald Trump, sent the memo to “Hill staffers and their colleagues” on Wednesday to pressure lawmakers not to take meetings with lobbyists who previously worked on the Jan. 6 panel, according to the letter. The memo listed several former committee staffers as well as their new titles and employers.

“AAF has put together a cheat-sheet below outlining their new firms and the firm’s clients so you can be sure you (and your staff) aren’t inadvertently taking a meeting with a company that hires staff that hates your boss,” wrote AAF President Thomas Jones in the memo. “It is important to remember that even if one of these former J6 investigators is not listed as a lobbyist on this specific account, the billings brought in by the clients listed below benefit all staff at the J6 investigator’s new firm.”

It’s not clear whether lawmakers will adhere to the group’s warnings, as several lobbying firms in Washington, D.C., have a significant influence on Capitol Hill for both parties. However, the memo underscores a larger movement by Trump allies to punish those who participated in the far-reaching investigation into the former president and his efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

Jones defended sending the memo, accusing the Jan. 6 committee of forcing several defendants to spend thousands of dollars in legal fees after being subpoenaed by the panel.

“Our memo to staff highlighted how staffers from the corrupt [Jan. 6] committee are monetizing their experience on that committee on K Street," Jones told the Washington Examiner. "We hope the increased attention on the issue serves as a wake-up call to Hill staff to treat the employers of these staffers — both lobby firms and businesses — as persona non grata in their offices."

Some of the names in the memo include former committee staffers Marcus Childress, Heather Connelly, and Michelle Kallen, who all now work for Jennifer & Block, representing groups such as T-Mobile and the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.

The memo also targeted Casey Lucier, the former investigative counsel for the Jan. 6 panel. Lucier now works at McGuireWoods, representing companies such as Hertz Global, Perdue Foods, and Sinclair Broadcast Group.

The memo also encouraged Hill staffers to send over additional names to be blacklisted.
