biological male who identifies as female in Washington state who won the girls 400-meter dash 2A state title last month is decrying the lack of “sportsmanship” female athletes showed after the race.

East Valley High School runner Veronica Garcia won the state championship event at Washington State University with a final race time of 55.75 seconds.

However, Garcia is now expressing feelings of being “somewhat hurt” after receiving few congratulatory remarks from fellow runners, according to a report.

“I guess maybe I expected sportsmanship because I was cheering the rest of them on when they were called, so I guess I expected to get that reciprocated,” Garcia said. “But I didn’t get that.”

“I’m just a teenager. I wish people would remember that,” Garcia added.
