Montana state Democratic Rep. Zooey Zephyr was spotted taking a selfie at the nation's Capitol with members of the progressive "Squad" on Thursday.

As the state's lone transgender representative, Zephyr has garnered recognition beyond most other state legislators. In the photo, Zephyr is huddled with Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), and Cori Bush (D-MO).

While Ocasio-Cortez was the selfie photographer, the New York representative has not shared the photo on any of her social media platforms. Zephyr shared the photo on Twitter after a press photographer captured the photo being taken from afar and published it.

"I was honored to meet with several members of congress today to talk about the work ahead," Zephyr captioned the photo. "Our conversations all centered on how to stand up for democracy, and how to work with the communities we represent to ensure that they are empowered to stand up as well."

The first-term representative filed a lawsuit with the American Civil Liberties Union earlier this month after being censured by the GOP-led state legislature in April. However, Judge Mike Menahan of the Montana 1st District Court, a Democrat and former state representative, said in a five-page response letter that he did not have the authority to intervene in the legislative dispute.

Zephyr is undeterred from remaining in politics and is actively soliciting campaign contributions.
