Border czar Tom Homan will “look into” whether Gov. Phil Murphy (D-NJ) is harboring an illegal immigrant as he claimed.
This threat comes after Murphy said at an event that someone in his “broader universe, whose immigration status is not yet at the point that they are trying to get it to,” is living “at our house above our garage.”
“Good luck to the feds coming in to try to get her,” Murphy said in the clip.
“I think the governor is pretty foolish saying what he said because I got note of it, won’t let it go. We will look into it,” Homan said on Fox News’s Hannity on Monday. “If he knowingly is harboring and concealing an illegal alien, that’s a violation of Title 8 United States Code 1324. I will seek prosecution, or the [homeland security] secretary will seek prosecution. Maybe he’s bluffing. We will deal with that.”
Some areas have clung to their “sanctuary city” status as a way to defend illegal immigrants from being deported.

“If they openly impede us, that’s a violation of federal law. It’s a felony,” Homan said of his opponents. “Any sanctuary city, any elected mayor, any city counselor or governor who thinks it’s a good idea to release public safety threats back into the community to reoffend is just ridiculous.”
While deportations have begun, border crossings have seen a stark decrease from former President Joe Biden’s administration. On Sunday, Homan reported there were about 524 border encounters and none were released into the U.S. but were turned away. A typical day during Biden’s term saw upward of 10,000 encounters a day.
