Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AK) said members of Congress have received "no answers" from the Secret Service regarding its investigation into cocaine discovered at the White House.

The Secret Service concluded its investigation into a bag of the drug found in the West Wing of the White House without identifying any suspects. Cotton, who reached out to the agency demanding answers by July 14, said that the lack of information from the Secret Service was "no surprise."

"We've gotten no answers — that's not surprising; the Secret Service is a troubled agency. It's long had challenges, probably needs new leadership," Cotton said.

"I take this very seriously. What if this was anthrax? This is supposed to be the most secure building in the world. If the Secret Service closed down its investigation after just a few days, it's my understanding they barely conducted any interviews," the senator continued.

On July 13, the Secret Service said there was "no surveillance footage" that pointed the agency to any leads. The cocaine was found on July 2 while President Joe Biden and his family were at Camp David.

"Without physical evidence, the investigation will not be able to single out a person of interest from the hundreds of individuals who passed through the vestibule where the cocaine was discovered," the agency said in a statement.

Cotton said the Secret Service should have interviewed Hunter Biden, the president's son, "who is a known cocaine addict."

"This is like if Hamburglar lived in the White House, all the hamburgers disappeared, and they said they didn't have any suspects or no one they could question," Cotton quipped.

"If the president was really serious about it, he could demand everyone who goes through those doors submit to a drug test," Cotton said, claiming that this was just another "Biden cover-up."

The White House said Hunter Biden was not there at the time of the discovery. Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, who worked under the Trump administration, ruled out Hunter Biden as a suspect, saying that the West Wing is “heavily trafficked” and that the bag was probably “discovered rather quickly," so the timeline does not match up.
