Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) is the Democrats’ star figure right now for all things family and local interest-related. He is less media-shy than his co-campaigner, Vice President Kamala Harris, but that does not mean he cares more about an informed public.
The Democratic Party base refers to him as “Coach Walz,” even tying him to famous Friday Night Lights football coach Eric Taylor, they laud him as a sort of infertility champion, and they afford lengthy sentences to his image of jolly fatherliness.
Of course, Walz’s policy record is verbose, too, and shows him less concentrated on simple, fatherly guidance than the Harris-Walz campaign would have one think. As Minnesota governor, Walz has signed a “trans refuge” law that strikes at parent-child relationships, developed a confusing relationship with Hamas-aligned figures, and has implemented changes to school curricula that inject “liberated ethnic studies” while cutting literacy requirements.
Walz’s legislative impact on the Minnesota public school system betrays the heart of his campaign approach. The revised Minnesota literacy goals unveil a commitment to evening out educational advantage and disadvantage over helping students excel: The “liberated studies” requirement doubles down on that method and emphasizes its racial motivation.
Leftist policy promotion is more important to Walz than individual child success rates, no matter what his small-town vibe tries to feign. It is a no-brainer that shifting from a traditional, unbiased school curriculum to one that focuses on subjective, minute experiences will not produce a robust education. It generates a bland homogeneity, contrary to the diversity on which the Left bases everything. More so, it works against any movement away from hyperspecialization in social justice fields, against a simple, pro-worker preparation.

In short, Walz’s school curriculum shoots for a largely uninformed public, barring obscure ideas that mobilize progressive factions. It is a microcosm of the Harris-Walz campaign’s active method. Harris avoids the media, out of incompetence, or whatever the reason may be, and Walz blurs focus just enough to gain a loyal audience.
People do not know much about their Democratic presidential nominee. It is by design, and Walz cannot do much without troubling Harris’s policy evasion. While Walz pretends to lay a simple personal life out for the public to see, he is just as deceptive as his policies.
