Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow has teamed up with the distributor of David as an executive producer.

On Thursday, Tebow joined Angel Studios, the movie's distributor, in announcing that the film had broken the record for all-time audience investment in a film production — a crowdfunding record previously set by The Chosen.

Tebow touted David’s accomplishment and said he is “so grateful to be a part of it.”

“I think it’s got the chance to touch so many lives,” Tebow said during a video livestream event for the film on Thursday. “I’m just so grateful so many people are coming together to tell the story of David that I think will bring faith, hope, and love to so many people. And ultimately, that’s the goal.”

“We’re really praying and hoping it’s going to make an impact in so many lives,” Tebow said.

David will bring the biblical account of Israel’s warrior champion and king to the screen with a worldwide theatrical release set for 2025.

The biblical film "DAVID" raised $49.7 million across all investment rounds, out of its $60.9 million required for the project's budget. Along with Slingshot USA, the company behind "DAVID," Angel Studios has set the film's worldwide theatrical release date for 2025.

Angel Studios President Jordan Harmon told the Washington Examiner it is exciting to see support for projects grow beyond what critics ever expected.

“We believe that these stories Angel is telling will help mold the culture into light,” Harmon said, noting that Angel Studios began its crowdfunding model with the idea of making a difference in a media culture that was “spiraling through darker and darker places.”

“That’s our mission: It’s to tell stories that amplify light,” Harmon said.

The animated feature film has gathered $49.7 million in investments thus far.

Crowdfunding to reach the project's original goal of $60.9 million remains open until March 31.
