A super PAC aligned with Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) tapped two veteran South Carolina operatives as it seeks to lay a foundation for a 2024 run.

Opportunity Matters Fund Action recruited Matt Moore as its state chairman and Mark Knoop as its state director, the two confirmed publicly. The duo will helm a team intent on spreading Scott's agenda across the Palmetto State.

TIM SCOTT DEFENDS TRADITIONAL VALUES AFTER SHOCK POLL SHOWS HUGE DECLINE

Moore served as the chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party from 2013 to 2017 and worked as Scott's state director after he ascended to the Senate. He works as a managing partner at First Tuesday Strategies, which conducts various political operations throughout the state.

"@SenatorTimScott is the embodiment of the American Dream. We need more people like him leading America. I’m honored to assist this effort w/ @MarkTKnoop," Moore tweeted.

Knoop served as the campaign managed for Gov. Henry McMaster (R-SC) during his 2022 campaign for reelection and worked on Sen. Lindsey Graham's (R-SC) 2020 reelection effort.

"America needs more hopeful and transformational leaders like @SenatorTimScott. Proud to be part of this effort with @MattMooreSC," Knoop tweeted.

South Carolina is the third state in the 2024 GOP primary race and home to former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC), who declared her candidacy in February. Haley appointed Scott to the Senate in 2013, kick-starting his rise to the national spotlight.

Scott embarked on a "Faith in America" listening tour earlier this year, traveling across South Carolina, Iowa, and other key states as he mulls a run. He has also huddled with donors and released a book last year.

Later this month, he is slated to deliver a "political update" to donors at a "Faith in America Summit" in Charleston, South Carolina. The event will take place on April 14, and the senator is expected to make his 2024 plans known soon, per USA Today.

Scott is a distant 11th place in a hypothetical GOP contest, according to the latest RealClearPolitics polling aggregate. Several of his Senate GOP colleagues have heaped praise on him publicly, with former Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO) even serving as the co-chairman of Opportunity Matters Fund Action.

So far, there are four somewhat prominent candidates in the GOP race, with well over half a dozen others actively contemplating a run.
