Reiterating his "100% pro-life" agenda, Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) praised the Supreme Court's historic decision to overturn Roe v. Wade ahead of its one-year anniversary.

The Republican candidate for president said the ruling “further bolstered the right to life and allowed our nation to begin repairing a terrible decision” in the Des Moines Register on Friday, one day before the one-year mark of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization ruling that struck down years of precedent holding there is a constitutional right to abortion.

“I happen to believe it’s a gift from God, and as such, has intrinsic and irreplaceable value,” Scott wrote about his anti-abortion stance. “Modern science keeps confirming what our hearts already know — unborn children are living human beings.”

Scott has been vying for evangelical voters' approval, emphasizing his Christian faith on the campaign trail.

The South Carolina senator has met with multiple Christian groups, holding his first town hall at New Life Christian Fellowship Church, after launching his presidential candidacy in May.

Scott confirmed to Newsmax in April that he would support a federal ban on abortion after 15 weeks’ gestation, after previously declining to say whether he supported his colleague Sen. Lindsey Graham's (R-SC) proposed 15-week ban.

“I am 100% pro-life,” Scott restated Friday. “When I am president of the United States, I will sign the most pro-life legislation the House and Senate can put on my desk. We should begin with a 15-week national limit.”

Scott has been hesitant to say whether he would support a six-week abortion ban on a federal level after Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) signed Florida's new abortion law in April. Scott restated his support for a 15-week ban during an event last month, avoiding comments on DeSantis’s ban, which has no expectations for rape or incest.

Gov. Henry McMaster (R-SC) signed a six-week abortion ban last month, which Scott called “good news,” when asked by South Carolina Education Television host Gavin Jackson.

Scott called out Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen for her testimony to Congress last year, warning the elimination of Roe v. Wade would create a danger for women and have negative effects on the economy.

“None of us should accept a society where the value of any life can be reduced to dollars and cents,” Scott said. “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness — despite what Janet Yellen wants you to believe, you don’t have to pick just two.”

Yellen said overturning the landmark 1973 ruling would have “damaging effects on the economy and would set women back decades” during a Senate Banking Committee hearing about a financial report on the economy one month prior to the fall of Roe v. Wade.

“Our movement needs a persuader-in-chief who can take our message to unexpected places, break through the liberal lies, and unite people around the dignity of every human life,” Scott said.
