Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) gave his audience and viewers a 2004 flashback during his announcement that he was seeking the 2024 Republican nomination for president, with some making comparisons to former Gov. Howard Dean's (D-VT) scream.
Scott, who announced his presidential campaign on Monday, startled fans when he yelled, "Hello, North Charleston!", during his entrance to the campaign event.

The screech reminded Twitter users of the moment following the 2004 Iowa caucus (where Dean finished third and lost to future Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry) in which Dean gave a yell of "Yeah!", which has since been labeled the "Dean scream."
Dean, who served as the governor of Vermont for three terms, was optimistic in his speech despite the caucus loss and concluded, "And then we're going to Washington, D.C., to take back the White House! Yeah!”
"Tim Scott's campaign announcement has the same energy as Howard Dean in 2004. #Election2024," one Twitter user said.

A Florida conservative commentator, who goes by Mindy, also referenced Dean's scream. "Tim Scott is giving me Howard Dean vibes with the yelling to get the crowd hype. It’s off brand for him," she tweeted.

Scott is the latest conservative to enter the presidential arena, following announcements from former President Donald Trump, former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and former Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R-AR).
After Scott’s declaration, he will travel to Iowa on Wednesday and New Hampshire on Thursday. The following week, he will join Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) at her Roast and Ride event.
