Washington Examiner commentary writer Tiana Lowe Doescher predicted that if Jack Ciattarelli, the Republican candidate for governor in New Jersey, wins, the state could see its corporate tax rate decrease.
New Jersey has the highest corporate tax rate in the nation at 11.5%, a result of Gov. Phil Murphy (D-NJ) imposing a transit tax last year.

During an appearance on Fox News Live on Sunday, Doescher commented on how “close” Ciattarelli’s race is against Mikie Sherrill, the Democratic candidate. According to Doescher, the eight-point lead that Sherrill boasts is proof that her party has been “hobbled by the Biden agenda.”
“And if we see New Jersey break, we could see the highest corporate tax rate in America come down, and that would be great for business,” Doescher said.

Meanwhile, in New York City, Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani has proposed the same corporate tax rate.
Ciattarelli and Sherrill have less than a month before the Nov. 4 election.
