The Washington Examiner's Ashley Oliver sorted the three investigations that are unfolding into Hunter Biden.
Oliver appeared on C-SPAN Saturday to share her analysis following her coverage of the president's son. Biden was set to plead guilty earlier this summer to two misdemeanor tax charges and enter into a pretrial diversion agreement to avoid a felony gun charge following a nearly five-year federal investigation, but questions from a judge in July about what she called "unusual" provisions of the deal resulted in it unraveling. His attorney has already made clear that he is only willing to plead guilty to the two original charges and would plead not guilty otherwise.

"You have Congress investigating Hunter Biden from two different approaches. They're looking at Hunter Biden's business dealings and any involvement Joe Biden may have had in them. They're also looking at the Justice Department's investigation of Hunter Biden. So the classic investigating the investigators to see if there were any kind of missteps involved in the Justice Department‘s yearslong investigation into Hunter Biden," Oliver explained. "You have the Justice Department itself also probing Hunter Biden."
In her view, Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO) had "the biggest development" in acquiring the testimonies of two IRS whistleblowers. They alleged the investigation into Biden had been "slow-walked" intentionally. The two would go on to testify to Congress on their thoughts surrounding the investigation into Hunter Biden.
"And so they came out and made these allegations, and that was really quite an advancement for Republicans in their probe," Oliver said.

David Weiss was appointed as special counsel in the DOJ investigation by Attorney General Merrick Garland last month, as he has led the investigation since 2019.
According to a court filing, Weiss announced his plans to indict Hunter Biden by the end of September. The filing also hinted that the indictment will include a felony charge for possession of a firearm while being addicted to drugs.
