The View discussed the 2024 presidential election on Thursday, during which they lamented how former President Donald Trump could still win the election.
Trump winning the election would come despite him facing 91 indictments that started earlier this year in several criminal cases. Sunny Hostin, one of The View co-hosts, noted that while Trump has opted not to attend the Republican presidential debates, he is still leading his opponents in the primary, with Trump polling "at 56.5%."

"He is the presumptive nominee," Hostin said. "He had a rally, a counter-programming rally, people showed up to the rally. He is the presumptive nominee, unless, I think, he gets convicted of criminal charges, or he chokes on a cheeseburger."

Hostin's comments on a potential Trump conviction come after a recent New York Times/Siena College poll stated that Trump would lose to President Joe Biden in 2024 if the former president were convicted and sentenced to prison, with Biden receiving 49% of the vote against Trump's 39%.
Fellow co-host Joy Behar also stated that Trump could still "win from prison." Hostin noted that the 14th Amendment of the Constitution would prevent a candidate from running for president if he or she were part of an insurrection, with Behar wondering "how much more proof" is needed.

Trump is beating all of the other Republican candidates in the 2024 Republican primary race, ahead of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley, and business entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, among others. Should Trump win the primary, it would pave the way for a rematch between him and Biden.
Both Trump and Biden will need to contend with Robert Kennedy Jr. running as an Independent candidate, as Kennedy announced he was leaving the Democratic primary race last month. A recent poll found that in a general election matchup between the three candidates, Biden received 39% of the vote, Trump received 36%, and Kennedy received 22%, suggesting that Kennedy would harm Trump more than Biden in a three-way race.
