NextImg:The View claims DeSantis's 2024 campaign is 'dead on arrival' amid low polling numbers

The View co-hosts have once again criticized Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), specifically regarding his 2024 presidential run that has failed to gain traction among Republican voters.

Ana Navarro, one of the hosts of the talk show, claimed that DeSantis's campaign for president is "dead on arrival" and that the Florida governor is on "political life support." The statements come as former President Donald Trump, who is running for reelection, is still far ahead of DeSantis in the polls, four months after the Florida governor announced he would run for president.

"Despite so many reboots, I now think he has more pairs of boots than Nancy Sinatra," Navarro said. "His campaign is dead on arrival. I mean, this guy is on political life support. It's just nobody has had the compassion and mercy to actually pull the plug."

Navarro said she was happy about DeSantis's struggling campaign because "he's been awful in Florida."

Fellow co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin agreed, stating that DeSantis was the most overrated politician in the United States. She also noted that she had worked for DeSantis when he was a representative in the House, where he was a "sane conservative."

"If he had just run a campaign like a normie Republican — 'People are flocking to Florida. We've got great taxes. Come, there's lots of jobs here,'" Griffin said, "he might be doing better, but he decided to go a completely bigoted route, a completely, frankly, leaning into racial divide route."

Griffin's comments regarding racial division stem from the Florida Board of Education's unanimous decision earlier this year to revise the state's black history curriculum, which requires middle schools to teach students about skills that slaves developed that could have been beneficial to them. The decision has been criticized by many, including Republican lawmakers.

Recently, DeSantis's polling plummeted in the battleground state of New Hampshire, coming in at only fifth place with 10% support, behind Trump at 39%, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy at 13%, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley at 12%, and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 11%. The latest poll is a far cry from previous predictions that considered DeSantis a major challenger and alternative to Trump.

Other recent polling data for the 2024 presidential election put Trump just ahead of President Joe Biden by 4 points, with Trump scoring 44% of the vote from respondents against Biden's 40%. When running against Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump performed a little better at 46% to Harris's 40%.
