The first criminal trial of former President Donald Trump began Monday in New York City, marking the beginning of the politically motivated effort to convict Trump of a crime before Election Day.
The case centers on a reimbursement payment Trump made to his former attorney Michael Cohen in 2016 after Cohen made a hush money payment to Stormy Daniels, a porn star who alleges she had an affair with Trump in the mid-2000s.
The trial is sure to be a media circus as Alvin Bragg, the partisan hack masquerading as the district attorney of Manhattan, attempts to do his part to help the Democratic Party’s cause of sending Trump to prison before the election. But as the jury selection gets underway, it is worth noting that this malicious George Soros-funded operative is trying to make his case to convict the former president by relying on a rogue gallery of witnesses who have enormous credibility problems.
The central player is Cohen, who made the hush money payment to Daniels and was reimbursed by Trump. It is this exchange of funds that is the impetus for the criminal charges, which allege the falsification of business records. It’s a crime that is usually a misdemeanor, but Bragg relied on some corrupt lawyering to upgrade the charge to a felony.
Cohen was convicted in 2018 of tax evasion, a campaign finance violation, and perjury after he lied to Congress during a congressional hearing. Naturally, this is whom Bragg is relying upon to deliver the testimony he hopes will brand Trump a convicted felon. For someone with a history of lying under oath, a healthy skepticism of his expected testimony is in order.

Then comes Daniels, the porn star who received the hush money payment. Of course, Daniels has been a fixture of the anti-Trump movement for a few years now and has used the notoriety and fame that came from her allegations to further her illustrious career in the smut industry.
Whether Bragg succeeds in getting a conviction will largely depend on convincing a jury to trust the word of a convicted liar and the word of a porn star. With a jury pool in Manhattan that has a deep hatred of Trump, he may very well succeed, but justice it will not be.
