The claim made by transgender activists that male athletes should play in women’s sports is so ridiculous that even people in Manhattan are growing sick of it.
Manhattan’s largest school board district voted 8-3 in favor of a resolution calling on New York City Mayor Eric Adams’s administration to review its policy allowing boys to play girls sports. It is not a substantive change, but it is an expression of disapproval of the transgender status quo in the heart of the Democratic Party’s power in New York.
This is not a surprise. Despite the hysterical bleating of activists claiming this puts “a target on students’ backs” or that it is “despicable,” normal people recognize how ridiculous it is to claim that you can change your gender, that children are capable of making that decision for themselves, and that it is hateful to not let boys play girls sports. Even those willing to overlook the first, and the much smaller group willing to overlook the second, can watch any game of any sport for athletes around age 12 or older and recognize just how different the gender gap is in athleticism.
It is even more absurd when the activists lobbying for permanently disfiguring children with sex change procedures and forcing female athletes to compete against (and change alongside) male athletes try to pretend that they are the ones who care about children. No one buys the hysterical act of someone like New York City Public Schools Chancellor David Banks, who said, “Won’t you just leave the kids alone” in response to Nassau County (home to Long Island) banning boys from girls sports.

The side that is pushing child sex changes, pretending that children can choose to be the opposite gender or some made-up category such as “nonbinary,” is not the side that gets to turn around and say “leave the kids alone.” Banks and the delusional activists who support his position have turned children into walking transgender talking points and are imposing their anti-reality view on girls who simply want to play sports and not be forced to change next to boys in their locker rooms.
The fact that this is even bubbling over in Manhattan shows just how detached from reality these activists and their Democratic politicians have become. You can lie to people about tax policy or climate change and watch it go over their heads, but something as basic as “boys are boys and girls are girls” is not something you can erase just by loudly whining at council meetings, even in overwhelmingly Democratic areas such as Manhattan.
