NextImg:The media parrots Hamas lies just in time to try and stop Israel from winning the war - Washington Examiner

On the eve of Israel‘s war-ending invasion of Hamas‘s Gaza stronghold in Rafah, the international media announced in unison that all of a sudden, Hamas agreed to a ceasefire. For two examples, here is the BBC with the announcement that Hamas “accepts” a ceasefire proposal and then MSNBC’s Ali Velshi with the details. See if you can spot the errors!

Aye, here’s the rub: Hamas is “accepting” a ceasefire deal that Israel — the country on the cusp of winning the war in question — is not offering and will never accept.

The details of this deal, let alone the timing of its supposed existence, immediately invoked suspicion among anyone seriously following the war in the wake of the Oct. 7 massacre. Israel has spent half a year offering temporary ceasefires in exchange for hostage releases, only for Hamas to violate the one lasting ceasefire the two finally agreed to in 2023 and for the terrorist organization to refuse any ceasefire proposal by Israel throughout 2024. The notion that Hamas has agreed to one at the eleventh hour of a losing war it began was suspect at best.

And then there was the content of the deal. Since the start of the war, Israel has remained steadfast in its demands: the release of hostages and for Hamas to relinquish its arms. This deal lacked both of these elements. Obviously it was an invention designed by Hamas to publicly pressure Israel out of its invasion of Rafah.

And yet the media ran with it. Our same firefighting champions against the scourge of “disinformation” and “misinformation,” who have repeatedly debased themselves by unquestioningly parroting Hamas fictions and narratives, have again made themselves stenographers for medieval warlords currently holding American civilians hostage after murdering at least two dozen more. (That’s on top of the hundreds of Jews held hostage and thousands murdered.)

The reason is the same as why the Biden administration refused to use America’s diplomatic and economic leverage to force Egypt to open the Rafah crossing to temporarily resettle Palestinian civilians as refugees: none of these parties, be it the corporate press or the White House, want Israel to win its war.

By forcing Hamas to keep Palestinian civilians as human shields, Egypt and the U.S. are making Israel’s victory conditional on engaging in the highly fatal and destructive urban warfare that sheds innocent blood as collateral damage. By cajoling international governments — or at the very least, giving them cover — into pressuring Israel to accept a “ceasefire” that doesn’t actually release the Israeli hostages, let alone defeat the group that has proven it stands for nothing less than the total genocide of the Jews, the media mouthpieces promulgating Hamas propaganda can maximize the blowback Israel will face for doing the one thing antisemites hate more than anything: when Jews actually fight back against their attempted extermination.

On Oct. 7, Hamas broke the only ceasefire that ever had any promise of lasting. Israel is merely finishing the war they started, and initiating the final invasion into Rafah at last.
