NextImg:The latest pro-abortion attack on women’s bodies

Quietly running under the surface of the latest pro- abortion arguments is an attack on womanhood and the female body.

Biologically, “ woman ” is defined as an adult human female with the capacity to reproduce. But society has erased the meaning of womanhood , which makes it easier to view pregnancy as a life-threatening affliction invading the body.

HOW BAD WOULD A UPS STRIKE BE FOR THE ECONOMY?

To pro-abortion advocates, pregnancy must be thwarted for any reason one desires, no questions asked. Pregnancy is dangerous, they say. No one should be forced to endure a life-threatening condition, they protest, as if a positive pregnancy test is akin to a terminal diagnosis. But what are the facts about pregnancy?

The March of Dimes reports that 9 of 10 babies are born healthy and 92% of pregnancies proceed without complication for mothers. The very reason women become pregnant is that our bodies were made to create and cultivate life.

The ideas of modern pro-choicers are rooted in second-wave feminism, in which writers such as Betty Friedan implied women were “oppressed” by their own bodies. Eugenicist Margaret Sanger wrote that women are “chained” by their maternity and managed to convince a nation that unnaturally altering one’s biology and ridding the world of unwanted humans was “healthcare.”

As Abigail Favale noted in her incredible book The Genesis of Gender, Sanger’s view is that “female fecundity is not natural and good, but pathological — a dangerous disease that needs to be treated and controlled.”

Altering the wholeness and natural function of one’s body is anything but healthcare. If women were made for anything, it was this. Not only this but certainly at least.

Consider how perfectly our femininity molds and mirrors the bodies it grows. When women are pregnant, our hearts begin pumping 50% more blood , and the bones and ligaments soften to ease back strain as the body produces increased estrogen. Our body’s progesterone slows digestion to let extra nutrients in for the baby, and our blood clots more easily because the body knows it needs a protective mechanism to stop bleeding when the placenta is delivered.

Then, there’s post-birth, when the body naturally produces what’s often deemed “liquid gold,” a nutrient-rich food for newborns called colostrum. The mother’s body is so attuned to her baby that the body produces the exact nutrients that particular baby needs. A newborn is protected by the antibodies in his or her mother's milk, giving the necessary immunity in those first few precious weeks of life outside the womb. This is the opposite of a life-threatening affliction.

But can pregnancy be dangerous? Of course, if you have a medical condition or a high-risk scenario or if an emergency arises. Generally speaking; however, pregnancy is a natural, healthy, and good condition of the human female body. In fact, it’s so good that it has long-term health benefits such as brain growth and a lower risk of breast cancer , plus healthier and stronger nails and hair and that quintessential pregnancy glow.

It’s tragic the Left is trying to convince women that pregnancy is not safe and their babies are better off dead. Pro-choicers regularly argue that the “safety of abortion” outweighs the “risks of pregnancy,” ironically never acknowledging that abortion always and intentionally takes the life of one, while continued pregnancy usually results in two live bodies.

Liberals' attempt to sully this miraculous embodiment by calling unwanted unborn babies “parasites” with “no right” to a woman’s body is inhumane. It also makes no ethical or logical sense. If pregnancy is merely a parasitic cluster of cells intended to deprive a woman of life, why are there so many health benefits? Why do our bodies so naturally adapt? Why were we created to cultivate and deliver life?

Generally speaking, a pregnant body is a healthy body. The vast majority of the time, a woman became pregnant through participating in a consensual activity she knew could result in this. Consenting to sex is consenting to possible pregnancy, no matter how small the risk.

Just as we know the risks of driving drunk, going skydiving, or climbing a tall tree, so we know the risks of sex. We may not consent to injury or punishment if things go wrong in the former examples, but if they do, we must deal with the physical realities that actually exist.

To erase the humanity of unborn babies is to deny their very existence and the existence of reality itself. Pro-choice advocates are so desperate to keep abortion legal through nine months of pregnancy that they’re willing to lie to weaponize their own propaganda against the very women they claim to support.
