Over the last decade, the identity-politics Left has crafted an entire lexicon to reframe every slight, perceived or otherwise, through the lens of their hierarchy of power.

They say it's not just that #BlackLivesMatter; black "bodies" have been subject to misogynoir and colorism. Asking an immigrant where they're from is treated as a microaggression. Marriage allegedly upholds the patriarchy. Calling for the police to respond to widespread rioting is called violence, while they say the violence of rioting is not literally violence.

And yet, when faced with Hamas, a legally qualified terrorist organization with the explicit purpose of exterminating the most marginalized minority in human history, half of the woke Left cannot bring itself to condemn the group. The other half, from the Harvard African American Resistance Organization to the NYU Student Bar Association, has outright embraced Hamas' illegal invasion of Israel.

Let us, for a moment, step back from the atrocities Hamas has committed over the past few days, which include the mass rapes of women, slaughter, and beheading of literal infants, and widespread targeting of civilians and essential infrastructure. Just consider the actual guiding principles of Hamas and the post-Israeli government it seeks to enact.

Hamas' plan for the Jews is indistinguishable from that of Adolf Hitler. Its official charter openly calls for the extermination of not just "the Israelis" but "the Jews," though unlike the nihilism and agnosticism of the Nazis, the Hamas are obviously religious fundamentalists.

Women are effectively excluded from the Hamas-controlled governance of Gaza, where women's labor force participation rate of 22% is among the lowest in the world. Sharia law entitles women to just half the inheritance of men, and women are legally barred from traveling without the supervision of a man. The Hamas code of modesty, of course, segregates women from civil society and mandates they wear hijabs at the risk of legal punishment.

Abortion is totally criminalized in all circumstances, at any point of gestation in pregnancy, and until 2018, a rapist could avoid punishment by marrying his victim.

It goes without saying that the entire LGBT community is persecuted under Hamas' governance, with same-sex relations between men criminalized and punishable with a decade in prison.

When faced with this racist, sexist, homophobic, and religious fundamentalist government waging war on a liberal, feminist, pro-LGBT democracy, the "everything is bigotry" crowd decided to side with the former group. Remember that the next time they try to accuse the rest of us of any slight, and respond accordingly.
