The Chosen has created a new way for fans to engage with the award-winning multi-season streaming series based on the life of Jesus.

Along with Angel Studios, the distributor of The Chosen, the streaming series introduced “Collectible Scenes,” making it possible for fans to claim a scene of The Chosen and share why it resonates with them.

In season 3 of "The Chosen," Jesus is seen preparing his disciples to be sent out.

“We are all familiar with collectibles. You probably have some at home, whether it’s a shirt, or a hat, or a figurine, or a poster, or something that connects you to a piece of content that touched your life or that you love. It’s just that nobody knows you have it. Nobody knows why you bought it,” The Chosen actor Shaan Sharma, who plays the role of Shmuel, told the Washington Examiner.

“But if while anybody on the planet is watching that show,” Sharma continued, “and then off to the side, you can read stories of why people love that scene, or how it’s touched their lives, or lessons they’ve taken away, or a video, for example, from me being like here’s the backstory behind this scene … It’s a way for the community to see the impact that the content is making on everybody.”

Angel Studios, which has established itself as a crowdfunding distributor of entertainment that amplifies light, introduced the concept of the “Collectible Scenes” during its recent annual Illuminate event.

“The work that we’re doing here,” Angel Studios Chief Experience Officer Seth Taylor told the Illuminate crowd, “in amplifying these stories of light is not just what happens on these screens. It’s what happens in your life. We need to have a culture where we are focusing not on turmoil, but we’re anchored in these fantastic stories that happen on screen. We’re anchored in this area of light.”

The “Collectible Scenes” were first made available to those who had invested in Angel projects. Each “Collectible Scene” was tied to one frame of a scene and could be viewed within the Angel app. The scenes are now available to be bought and sold.

“You can actually own a piece of that scene for yourself — forever. So that forever and ever, anytime anyone on the planet watches that show, they’ll be able to connect with why you loved it,” Sharma explained. “It’s like a public way for people to see you own a piece of it as well as what it means to you.”

Sharma told the Washington Examiner that the “Collectible Scenes” are a way to help sustain the work of writers, directors, and actors.

“Because there’s an economic aspect, when you buy and sell your spots, the show gets supported, Angel Studios gets supported, the actors get supported. It’s a way to monetize that content,” he said. “It may save our art.”

The Chosen actor added that he was grateful to be a part of the project.

The Chosen and Angel, they continue to innovate in ways that are really, really fun to be a part of,” Sharma said. “I’m just really glad to be a part of it.”
