A group of high schoolers in Texas are going viral after raising over $260,000 to allow their school's 80-year-old janitor to retire.
Callisburg High School seniors Banner Tidwell, Marti Yousko, and Greyson Thurman decided to raise money for the janitor known as Mr. James after he was forced to come out of retirement amid the rising cost of living, according to a report.

"It's just so sad seeing an 80-year-old man having to do things an 80-year-old shouldn't have to do," Tidwell said.
Three seniors at Callisburg High School (west of Sherman) noticed a need within their school’s community and quickly responded. Their custodian, they discovered, was 80 years old and had returned to the workforce because of the rise in the cost of living. https://t.co/CD2Fjqzqww

The three students made a TikTok video displaying the 80-year-old custodian cleaning the halls and attached a GoFundMe link.
"This is our 80 y/o janitor who had his rent raised adn had to com back to work," the TikTok read.
"Let's help get Mr. James out."
In a mere 12 hours, they had raised roughly $10,000, and most of that money had come from other students at Callisburg, the report noted.
