Follow-up tests have confirmed that cocaine was found in the White House.

The white, powdery substance was found Sunday night and led to a brief evacuation of the complex. Initial tests were that it was cocaine, which was borne out via follow-ups.

"Yes, confirmed," Secret Service communications chief Anthony Guglielmi said in response to a question from the Washington Examiner.

The Secret Service is now investigating how cocaine got into the building, according to ABC. Despite initial reports claiming it was found in the library, the White House said the cocaine was found in an area of the West Wing that is available to tourists.

President Joe Biden was at Camp David at the time of the discovery and initial search.

While much remains unknown at this point, first son Hunter Biden, 53, was on the premises on Friday before heading to Camp David with his father for the holiday weekend. The younger Biden has suffered bouts of addiction to crack cocaine, which he wrote about in his 2015 memoir Beautiful Things.

The first family returned to Washington on the morning of July 4, with Hunter Biden joined by wife Melissa Cohen and son Beau Biden. Hunter Biden later watched fireworks from the White House balcony.
