The national anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America and its affiliated Women Speak Out PAC are spending a combined $9 million to buoy Republicans in two battleground Senate races: Michigan and Georgia.

The toss-up seats are controlled by Democrats and squarely in the sights of Republicans as they try to expand their 53-47 Senate majority in next year’s midterm elections.

SBA Pro-Life America and its affiliated super PAC will spend $4.5 million on each race with a focus on “defeating the Democrats and retaining the pro-life Senate majority,” the group said Wednesday. The funding is the latest example that healthcare issues will again play a major role in the 2026 elections, as Democrats spotlight the GOP’s Medicaid cuts in President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful” law.

“With 42 Planned Parenthoods now closed or saying they will shut this year, we must continue the pro-life momentum and stop the Democrats from reinstating the forced taxpayer funding of abortion businesses,” SBA Pro-Life Political Communications Director Kelsey Pritchard told the Washington Examiner in a statement.

Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) is seeking reelection to a second term in a state with a near-total abortion ban after six weeks of pregnancy. His campaign said it was focused on stopping the “GOP’s methodical anti-abortion efforts in its tracks.”

“Despite the devastating consequences of Georgia’s extreme six-week abortion ban, Republicans continue to further rip away women’s healthcare access at every turn,” Ossoff Campaign Communications Director Ellie Dougherty said in a statement.

Republicans are facing a competitive primary in the Peach State that so far includes Reps. Buddy Carter (R-GA), Mike Collins (R-GA), and former football coach Derek Dooley after Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) opted against a run.

In Michigan’s open race to replace retiring Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI), former GOP congressman Mike Rogers is the presumptive nominee. He narrowly lost last year to now-Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI).

The Rogers campaign did not respond to a request for comment and whether it welcomes the SBA’s intervention. His abortion views stop short of the group’s advocacy for a national ban. He’s stated previously that he would not seek to overturn Michigan voters’ decision in 2022 to enshrine abortion access into the state constitution.

THE BATTLE TO DEFUND PLANNED PARENTHOOD HITS ROADBLOCKS THAT WILL EXTEND TO 2026 MIDTERMS

On the Democratic side, there’s a competitive three-way contest for the nomination between Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI), state Sen. Mallory McMorrow, and Abdul El-Sayed, the former Wayne County health director and a 2018 candidate for governor.

“We know that whoever emerges from the contested Democratic primary for Senate is going to be an abortion extremist,” SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser said in a statement.
