A school board in suburban Philadelphia voted to protect students in school bathrooms and locker rooms. Perkiomen Valley’s school board approved Code 720 on Monday night, a policy that mandates the usage of locker rooms and bathrooms in buildings throughout the district based on their normal and natural sex. It marked a return to human normalcy for the school district and an outright rejection of the fictitious notions of so-called gender ideology.
The Perkiomen Valley school board decided to protect children, not radical left-wing political and cultural agendas. It was an important vote because the outcome runs counter to many of the decisions schools have made nationwide. Perkiomen Valley showed it would not be like the school districts that took a knee to the radical transgender lobby and were too afraid to stand up for normalcy and do what is right. Other school districts around the country should follow suit.

Per the text of Code 720, the policy’s main objective is to “respect the rights and privacy of all students and staff by instituting a clear and concise bathroom policy within all Perkiomen Valley School District buildings.” Additionally, it stipulates that Perkiomen Valley schools will “provide access to Multi-User facilities based on their sex.” Additionally, it mandated that all school buildings in the district designate “restrooms, locker rooms, and showers” for one sex and only to be used by members of that sex. It specified that “no person shall enter a restroom, locker room, or shower that is designated for the use of the opposite sex.”

Furthermore, Code 720 accommodates people uncomfortable using public bathrooms by permitting them to use “single-user restrooms.” Code 720 declared that “any student who has a need or desire for increased privacy, regardless of the underlying reason, should be provided access to a single-user restroom for their privacy, but no student shall be required to use such a restroom.”

During the meeting Monday night, parents of students in the school district were allowed to testify before the board held its vote. Many parents expressed their concern for their children’s welfare. Others rationalized that there was a common-sense solution to the bathroom ordeal.
“There’s a common-sense solution on the table, which is for transgender students to use the single-stall bathroom. This does the greatest good for the greatest number for the longest amount of time,” one of the speakers said before the board last night. “We do not need to increase the risk of our female students to make transgender students feel safe. We can accomplish both by having transgender students utilizing transgender bathrooms.”
Later in the meeting, board members provided compelling testimony as to why Code 720 was necessary for the district. One of the members, Matt Dorr, mentioned the inconsistencies of gender ideology itself and provided examples of its flimsiness.
“Gender identity is still something that’s relatively — it’s growing in scope. If you go to Healthline.com ... a pretty prominent website that shows the definition of genders, if you go there, to their archives in 2018, they list three genders with three definitions,” Dorr said. “I went there this morning at 10 o’clock: There is now 68 genders.”
Speaking in front of the school board regarding its consideration to embrace gender identity and gender ideology, Rebecca Johnson, a mental healthcare provider and also a parent of multiple children in the school district, spoke against many of the left-wing agenda-driven cultural narratives surrounding the gender identity lobby that is the basis for many of these bathroom policy decisions nationwide.
“As therapists, we do not affirm our patient’s mental illness. We look at ‘Why are you feeling that way?’ ‘What’s going on?’ ‘What are the traumas in your history?’ Gender-affirming care touches none of that. It is simply [children] come in, and you immediately affirm,” Johnson said. “And people — doctors, therapists, healthcare providers — are being pushed to say, ‘You will lose your job,' and in some states, you will lose your license if you do anything different. Sweden’s already done this, and there are plenty of studies that show this is absolutely damaging.”

Many parents and mental healthcare providers, such as Johnson, have for too long urged professionals and adults to halt these social policies and initiatives that catered to radical left-wing cultural ideology. Standing up to the vociferous Left is challenging and intimidating. Standing in front of a sociopolitical tank of cultural agenda issues and yelling “stop” takes guts. They deserve praise for their guts and bravery, and so too do the students who organized a peaceful protest and walked out of school to protest the district’s policies. The policy reversal marks a victory for all those fighting to return to sanity and normalcy in the path of chaos and cultural destruction.
Furthermore, what happened in Perkiomen Valley is the latest example of why participation in the country’s culture war is necessary. Amazing things happen when those who support conservative and Republican values stop being bullied by the Left and stand up for what’s right.
