Elon Musk’s terrible week is yet another reminder that conservatives and Republican politicians should not embrace celebrities as heroes or icons simply because they occasionally deviate from liberal orthodoxy.
Musk, the CEO of Tesla and X, started off his bad news cycle by responding to a post accusing Jews of “pushing the exact kind of dialectical hatred against whites that they claim to want people to stop using against them” and accusing Jews of “flooding” the country “with hordes of minorities.” Musk replied, “You have said the actual truth.”
SUPREME COURT’S NEW ETHICS CODE WON’T STIFLE CYNICAL LEFTIST ATTACKS
You have said the actual truth

Musk said that he was only referring to groups such as the Anti-Defamation League, which he made clear in his second reply, but the damage was done. His carelessness put him in this position, and IBM soon announced that it was pulling ads from the website. This is now the second time in the last few months that Musk has tried to criticize the ADL (which is deserving of criticism) only to shoot himself in the foot.
More alarming that Musk’s seemingly accidental, yet irresponsibly reckless, antisemitism is what he followed that up with in San Francisco. Musk was one of the many CEOs to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit to schmooze Chinese dictator Xi Jinping. Musk then posted a picture of him shaking the hand of the genocidal dictator while cheering for “prosperity for all.”

Musk’s pandering to China is not a surprise given that he has done it for years and has financial interests in China. He is a shill for the Chinese Communist Party, and that alone should be disqualifying to conservatives who consider him a member of the team just because he criticizes the “woke mind virus” every once and a while.
Musk is not a free speech hero, as has been proven since he took over (and rebranded) Twitter. He regularly shills for China’s communist government. He runs into stupid controversies because he runs his mouth without thinking. He is not a hero, and he is not worth the energy or fanfare that too many conservatives waste on him.
