Several states are expected to send out stimulus checks to residents in 2024, with payments ranging from a few hundred dollars to over $1,000.
Many are issuing property tax rebates or using money from leftover COVID-19 recovery funds to pay their citizens. States set to issue payments in 2024 are New York, Maryland, New Mexico, California, Arizona, Missouri, and Colorado.

Here are the details about several of the programs set to begin next year.
Arizona
As part of the state's 2024 fiscal budget, an estimated 743,000 Arizona residents can expect to benefit from a new stimulus check program.
The Arizona Families Tax Rebate, announced in November, is worth a maximum of $750. It is worth $250 per dependent under 17 and $100 per dependent over 17 who are claimed on a household's 2021 tax returns.
California
California is offering families relief in the form of a one-time child tax credit for qualifying children in 2024.
The one-time tax credit will be worth up to $3,600 per qualifying child. A young child tax credit is also available for families, worth up to $1,083 per tax return. To qualify for the young credit, families must have a child under 6 and be eligible for the California earned income tax credit.
Colorado
Colorado residents can expect to see an estimated $847 for single filers and $1,694 for those filing jointly in TABOR refunds next year. Approximately $3.28 billion is expected to be returned to taxpayers.
Historically, TABOR checks have been issued based upon a recipient's income level, but the Colorado legislature voted to make the payments equal across the board — meaning higher-earning residents will receive less than usual and lower-earning recipients can expect to earn an extra few hundred dollars.
Maryland
Maryland is continuing a child tax credit into 2024, offering up to $500 per child for those under 6 or who have a disability.
The state estimates that the tax credit will benefit 40,000 taxpayers, with Gov. Wes Moore (D-MD) touting it as part of his "all-out assault on child poverty" in April.

New Mexico
New Mexico residents have until May 2024 to file their tax returns and receive a rebate check of up to $1,000.
Married couples filing jointly, heads of households, and surviving spouses will receive up to $1,000, and single filers and married couples filing separately can receive up to $500. The rebate is available for those who filed, or will file, by May 31, 2024. Once the tax return is filed, payments are sent automatically.
